Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 28 May 2025
1. Our Commitment
Monsoon Compass aims to make its website accessible to everyone, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or voice input. We take a practical approach: build it accessibly from the start, and address issues as they are identified.
This statement applies to the website at monsooncompass.blog and the separate legal pages associated with it.
2. Conformance Target
We are working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, published by the W3C). This is the widely recognised standard for web accessibility and the level typically required by applicable laws and regulations in many countries.
3. Measures Taken
To support accessibility, we have taken the following steps:
- Semantic HTML — pages use appropriate heading levels, landmark regions (
<header>,<main>,<footer>,<nav>), and native elements such as<button>,<details>, and<dialog>to communicate structure to assistive technologies - Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, toggles, FAQ items) are reachable and operable using only a keyboard
- Colour contrast — text and interactive elements are designed to meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds, in line with WCAG 2.1 AA
- Reduced motion support — the site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query; any transitions are kept minimal regardless - Descriptive alt text — images that convey content include meaningful alt text; purely decorative elements are marked with
aria-hidden - Labelled form fields — all form inputs have visible labels and, where appropriate,
aria-labelattributes for screen readers - Focus indicators — a visible focus ring is present on interactive elements for keyboard users
4. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility could be improved:
- The embedded Google Maps iframe is provided by a third party and may not be fully operable with all assistive technologies. An address is displayed alongside the map as a text alternative.
- Some content images from the Lorem Picsum placeholder service carry generic alt text that will be replaced with descriptive, theme-relevant text when the site is fully deployed.
We will address these where possible as part of ongoing maintenance.
5. Reporting an Accessibility Issue
If you encounter a barrier on our website, we want to know. Contact us by:
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: +66 65 938 2071 (Mon–Sat 07:00–18:00, Sun 08:00–15:00 ICT)
Please describe the page you were visiting, the issue you experienced, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within five working days and to resolve substantive issues within 30 days where technically feasible.
6. Date of This Statement
This accessibility statement was prepared on 28 May 2025 based on a review of the website at that date. It will be reviewed and updated when significant changes are made to the site.
