— ABOUT US
A Field Guide to Southern Thailand's Outdoors
Monsoon Compass started with a single route — a quiet lane from Patong up toward the Kamala headland that most rental scooters simply fly past. We began running small evening rides there in early 2023, and the response was enough to build around. Since then we've mapped dozens of coastal stretches, scouted accommodation suited to cyclists, and put together a hire fleet of maintained gravel bikes and e-bikes.
The team is small by design. Guide Nattawut Chaiyarat leads most of the cycling days; he's been riding Phuket's back roads since school. Bookings and logistics are handled out of our office on Soi Ruamchit, five minutes' walk from the beach. We keep group sizes manageable so the pace stays social rather than athletic.

Hire a bike— WHAT SETS THE ROUTE APART
The Details We Don't Skip
Route Briefing
Every hire and guided trip starts with a short briefing — road conditions, key junctions, and where to stop for water. Nothing is assumed.
Local Knowledge
Our guides know which lanes are shaded at 5 pm, which café has proper filter coffee, and which headland overlook the tour buses haven't discovered yet.
Straightforward Pricing
All prices are quoted in Thai baht and include the equipment listed. No add-ons appear at checkout. What you see on the booking form is what you pay.
— SUNSET HEADLAND
An Evening Ride Worth Timing
The Sunset Headland Cycle Tour runs along the quieter lanes that climb from Patong toward the cape. The pace is deliberately unhurried — the point is the light, not the distance. Stops are timed so you reach the viewpoint roughly twenty minutes before the sky turns. The ride back is flat and easy.
Includes a guide, helmet, water, and a short café stop on the way down. Suitable for most fitness levels; the longest climb is a gentle 1.8 km.

Two Nights, One Good View
The beachside studio on our roster sits within a short walk of the water. It has a small kitchenette, enough storage for gear, and a balcony that faces the sea rather than the car park. Breakfast vouchers cover a nearby café that opens at 7 am — early enough for a morning ride before it gets warm.
The package runs for two nights and includes beach umbrella access plus a printed walking map of the area.

— HOW WE OPERATE
How We Keep Things Running Well
Small group sizes, maintained equipment, and a team that's reachable by phone during all operating hours.
Groups of 8 or Fewer
Tours stay small. Eight riders is our cap for guided outings, so nobody gets left behind and the guide can talk to everyone.
Equipment Checks
Bikes go through a mechanical check between every hire. Brakes, tyres, and gears are inspected and adjusted before the next booking.
Reachable by Phone
Our number is on every booking confirmation. If a tyre goes flat mid-ride or plans change, there's a real person at +66 65 938 2071.
Routes Timed Carefully
Start times are chosen to avoid peak traffic hours and the strongest midday heat. Comfort matters more than fitting an extra kilometre in.
— OUR APPROACH
Three Things We Don't Compromise On
Honest itineraries
Distance, duration, and difficulty are described plainly in every booking summary. No surprises on the day.
Respect for the local environment
We keep groups off sensitive coastal edges and use quiet lanes rather than main roads where possible. A good guide leaves the place as they found it.
Flexible enough for real holidays
Dates can shift with reasonable notice. We understand that travel plans change — especially in Thailand's rainy season.

What Guests Have Said
"The timing was spot on — we reached the viewpoint about fifteen minutes before sunset. Nattawut knew exactly which lane to take to avoid the evening traffic. Really well organised."

"We took the e-bike for two days and covered a lot of ground. The bikes were in good condition and the route card actually had useful information on it — not just a map. Good value."
Markus K.
Hamburg, DE · April 2025
"The studio was exactly what we needed — quiet, clean, close to the water. The breakfast café they recommended was a five-minute walk and opened early enough for us to eat before the day got hot."
